Eames Runners. A pair of replacement runners made from real hardwood, designed to perfectly match the originals; they fit new and vintage Eames rocker bases. Made from the highest quality hardwoods available, hand-picked and sourced from sustainably managed forests.

The wood is finished with hand rubbed tung oil, which is sustainable, non-toxic and will not require refinishing in 5 to 7 years, as with varnish or polyurethane (click here to learn more about wood finishes and wood species).

The wire rocker base prototype was originally designed for the Museum of Modern Art's 'International Competition for Low-Cost Furniture Design' in 1948.

This iconic design is handcrafted by Modern Conscience in solid maple wood (click here to learn more about the difference between maple and birch), one of the originally available hardwoods. This base will fit all Charles Eames for Herman Miller shells with the narrow shockmount configuration. Click here to determine if you have a narrow mount seat.

The wood is finished with hand rubbed tung oil, which is sustainable, non-toxic and easy to maintain (click here to learn more about wood finishes). Maple and birch both begin as a bright wood and gradually develop a "sun tan" over time; your runners will have that warm, mid-century look about one year after purchase.
