SOLD / Vintage Arne Jacobsen Egg Chair

Arne Jacobsen designed the Egg Chair in 1958 for the lobby and reception areas of the Royal Hotel in Copenhagen. This organically shaped chair has since become synonymous with Danish furniture design throughout the world. Because of the unique shape, the Egg Chair guarantees privacy.

The shell of the Egg is of polyurethane foam with fiberglass reinforcement and cognac leather. The base is injection molded aluminum.

This particular example shows a rich patina and the signs of a chair that was well loved. We've left the chair un-restored, recognizing that some collectors prefer furniture that tells the story of its history, age, and use. Please note we are offering a full restoration for an additional cost, should this be your preference.

The leather is well broken in with a couple of small tears and breaks. There are some areas of staining where a beverage of some sort was likely spilled. Additionally, the leather has rubbed through to the cotton cord trim in a number of places. The base is oxidized, the swivel action is smooth, clean and fast. Condition is documented in the photographs.

Overall this is a gorgeous chair in untouched and well loved condition.
